Why Willow Tree Wellness Clinic ?

Willow trees grace us with a sanctuary under their canopy of branches.  We are inspired to offer such a nourishing retreat in our clinic shaded by our own curly willow tree. The leaves and bark of the willow tree have been mentioned in ancient texts as a remedy for aches and fever, and Hippocrates wrote about its medicinal properties in the 5th century BC. Willows contain salicin, a substance that chemically resembles aspirin and was one of our first herbal remedies. In Buddhism, a willow branch is one of the chief attributes of Kwan Yin, the bodhisattva of compassion, who awaits your arrival in our waiting room.

At Willow Tree Wellness we specialize in the holistic treatment of health concerns, with a strong emphasis on women’s health with infertility and pregnancy care being our focus.  We are highly accomplished at using Oriental Medicine – acupuncture and herbal medicine- to effectively treat both infertility and concerns of pregnancy.  We work closely with local fertility specialists, ob/gynecologists, midwives, and other health care providers to give you the best possible integrative care.  Read about our patient’s successes first hand.

What is Oriental Medicine?

Oriental Medicine (OM) is one of the longest living forms of medicine, used to restore and maintain vibrant health to women, men and children for the past 4000 years. OM encompasses many modalities: acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping massage, nutritional therapy and moxibustion. OM offers relief from pain and illness while achieving a harmonious balance with mind, body and spirit. Hundreds of generations of clinical studies illuminate the power and efficacy of these medical modalities.

Prominent health organizations such as the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health (NIH) in the U.S. Although acupuncture and herbal medicine are considered complementary/alternative therapies in the U.S. recognize the benefits of OM and endorse its practice as a safe, effective form of medicine for many medical conditions.

Oriental Medicine Treats the Individual

The value and breadth of a holistic medicine is that it looks at the person as one unified system, rather than treating a “disease” or “symptom.” OM practitioners assess the seemingly unrelated symptoms of imbalances to formulate a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan that addresses the mind, body and spirit of the individual patient. Three people may come in with the same physical complaint but each may have three different diagnoses, three unique treatment plans.

Support the Body’s Innate Healing Abilities

A common thread in Chinese medicine is to treat the root and the branch of an illness; the root is the cause of the health problem and the branch is the manifestation or acute symptoms of the ailment. Chinese medicine treats all areas of imbalance to bring the body’s natural healing abilities back into harmony. Western medicine understands the body’s innate abilities to heal and defines this harmony of balance as homeostasis. Acupuncture and herbs treat the underlying cause of the ailment, stimulating the body to gently to heal from the source instead of masking the symptom with medication. Many patients prefer natural treatment solutions. If you are interested in true healing rather than simply treating or preventing symptoms, you and your family’s health will benefit from Oriental Medicine!
